Homework Policy

 7th Grade Homework Policy

  • All homework is due at the bell at the beginning of class.

    • Homework handed in any time after the beginning of class will be accepted with a 20% penalty until the next class.  Not turning in homework at the beginning of class will affect Regal Eagle.

    • Late homework handed in after the beginning of the next class will be corrected, but the student will receive no credit.

7th Grade Project Policy

Projects are long-term assignments that are more comprehensive in scope.  Students are usually given four or more days to complete projects.  These are generally weighted more than other assignments.

  • Projects are due at the beginning of class.

  • A project handed in by 13th period the next day will be accepted with a 20% penalty.  Each school day thereafter, the student will continue to lose an additional 20%.  After 5 days, the project grade becomes a zero that may not be made up.

  • If a student is absent on the day a project is due, the project will be due the first day back to school. Long-term absences will be handled on an individual basis.

  • Not turning in a project at the beginning of class will affect Regal Eagle.

Math 7 Expectations

Welcome to seventh grade math.  We will have an exciting year investigating mathematics.  Our goal is that ALL seventh graders succeed in math this year.  We can meet this goal by being:
Responsible

Respectful
   Honest

Willing to Learn
   Willing to Give Our Best

Preparation:

  • Bring your binder with paper, pencils, calculator (when requested), homework, and agenda.  Locker trips are not allowed.

 When you enter the room:

  • Sharpen your pencil
  • Read both boards
  • Put homework due in the appropriate place
  • Write the new homework assignment in your agenda
  • Begin warm-up activity

Participation:

  • Engage in the lesson by listening actively, speaking clearly, working cooperatively, taking notes, and asking questions

Attendance:

  • Attendance is critical. One day is like missing two classes of work.
  • When absent, the student MUST speak with Ms. Burdick THE DAY HE/SHE RETURNS, even if he/she does not have math that day.
  • Stay 13th period to get the missed lesson.

Extra Help:

  • Stay 13th period for extra help or come in during a study hall if I am free.
  • Refer to the website or contact me at home if you have questions.

Classwork and Homework:

  • ALL math work must be done in PENCIL and have a COMPLETE HEADING.
    • Any homework turned in on time may be corrected for a higher grade up to 80% credit.  After papers are returned, corrections will be accepted until the next class.
    • You must complete a NO ASSIGNMENT FORM and put it in the IN BIN if you do not have your homework with you at the beginning of class for any reason.

  • Most homework is graded based on effort.  If you truly don’t know something, write what you do know or explain where you are having trouble.
  • Always submit completed, QUALITY work.
  • Reviewing and practicing daily is a must for success in math.

Grades:

  • 50% Tests, quizzes, review assignments and projects
  • 50% Daily classwork, homework, binder checks and participation
  • You will have one major test and several quizzes every ten weeks.  Tests will be announced at least two classes ahead but quizzes may be announced or unannounced.
