CLAW

  Presentation

Students from C.L.A.W., a non-profit organization started by the 2008-2009 A.P. Government Class presented.   The group is advised by Jay Kaczmarek and is run by the students.  This past year it was decided to tackle two service-learning projects.  The first a Veterans History Project, which chronicles and preserves the stories of our local veterans.  The second is the Revitalization of Wayland – main goal to refurbish the signs welcoming people to Wayland.  These projects give students an ample opportunity to help the community and learn life skills that will allow students to succeed and prosper later in their professional lives.

Virtual Business

  Presentation

The General Business Class presented their virtual business AYE (Accessorize Your Electronics).  It is an internationally recognized program, with the Rochester Region providing the opportunity to participate. Students developed a business plan and ran the business, assigning employees and conducting business.  A paycheck is earned by attendance and that money is spent purchasing from other businesses in the region.

The Trade Fair at Genesee Community College was a competition between the Rochester Region businesses.  Our business won 2nd place overall and 3rd place in total sales. The students also participated in Professional Day at GCC which is an opportunity to meet the other businesses and students that is held about a month ahead of the trade fair.

Approve Bid #09-8

  Pickup Truck & Plow

Upon recommendation from David Mastin, Business Manager, a motion was made by Mark Perkins, seconded by Phillip Trautman to accept Bid #09-8 in the amount of $25,413 for the purchase of a new 2011 Ford F-250 4x4 pickup and plow.

Vision Ford was the sole bidder and since we specifically mailed bid packets to local dealers in addition to advertising the bid, I recommend that there is no need to re-bid as I anticipate the same results.

Our bid specs did call for a 2010 model year and Vision Ford is bidding with a 2011 model year with all other features equal to or greater than the bid specs.

The bid amount is to be funded from our Vehicle & Equipment reserve as originally described in our approved 2009-2010 budget.   The motion carried 6-0.
