Back To Cohocton School

June 2010
Dear Cohocton Families,

What a year it has been! Just 9 months ago I met many of “our” children for the very first time as they ran through our front doors, eager for their new school year to start! And now, more quickly than I thought possible, the end of the year is here and we are looking back with fondness at all that we have shared together within these Cohocton Elementary walls! We have laughed together, celebrated successes together, learned from our mistakes together and helped each other to become a little wiser, a little kinder and a little more ready for next year! When I asked the kids “what was the best part of school this year”…here is what they had to say!

“Playing dodge ball in gym is the most fun because we need a break from learning!” Tyler Young, 3rd grade
“ My favorite was reaching my Accelerated Reading goal of reading 20 books! It felt good to reach my goal and then celebrate by getting to swim at Wayland!” Kolhan Culbertson, 2nd grade
  • “I liked doing stuff in the community like riding my bike in the Bike A Thon!” Stephanie Fox, 1st Grade
  • “The coolest thing was learning to weave in Art Class!” Natasha Smith, 3rd grade
  • “I liked learning how to retell stories in REACH.” Molly Fox, 4th grade
  • “The best part was work, work, working! Math, Science, Writing…it was all fun!” Collin Stewart, 2nd grade
  • “Well, obviously the best part of school is outdoor recess!” Connor Norton, 2nd grade
  • “I loved being Principal for a Day, except for the part when I fell down!” Erin White, 2nd grade
  • “What I will never forget is writing our rainforest books!” Alexis Sullivan, 3rd grade
  • “I liked when we had assemblies like the Wizards and the drummer!” Alex Lincoln, 4th grade
  • “My favorite was when we made self portraits in art class. Those are when you make a portrait of yourself!” Katlin Bidlack, 4th grade
  • “We got to make games for our book projects…that was awesome!” Elyssa Short, 4th grade
  • “I just think it’s fun to get to come to school everyday and spend time with my teacher and friends.” Gwen Werth, 3rd grade
  • “I liked playing at recess and our Monthly Celebrations!” Brooke Adams,
    Kindergarten
  • “I liked getting to do hard work like doing tests and writing our letters!” Griffin Abramowski, Kindergarten
  • “Getting to meet new people is the best thing about school this year!” Autumn Ladd, 1st grade
  • “I liked learning lots of things in art this year!” Cari Stern, 1st grade
  • “Playing in my classroom is the best thing about school!” Amaya LaPlant,
    Pre-Kindergarten
  • “My favorite thing about school is getting to ride the bus!” Anthony Eaton,
    Pre-Kindergarten
  • “My best part of school is when I get here and everyone always says “good
morning” to me.” Neveah Sullivan, 1st Grade
  • “The most favorite thing about this school is getting to meet new friends.” Madison Levee, Kindergarten
  • “What I really like about school is getting to use the Smart Board in Mr. P’s class and the computers in the computer lab!” Sadie George, Kindergarten

The children, staff and teachers of Cohocton Elementary have decided to end our wonderful school year with “End of the Year Celebrations” featuring your child and all of the hard work that he/she has accomplished this year! Each classroom has designed what they would like this “End of the Year Celebration” to look like but one thing is for sure…it will be extremely special for each child, allowing them to feel the pride and accomplishment that comes with success! There will be time spent in classrooms, awards, music, entertainment and much, much more!

Thanks in advance for all that you have done to help make this year a successful one! I am looking forward to enjoying this last month with all of our special children and then jumping into summer with our Summer Skills Camp and Summer Enrichment offerings for the month of July! If you haven’t returned your child’s Summer Skills Camp permission slip, please do so as soon as possible and look for more detailed information coming home by the end of next week! Remember our website at www.wccsk12.org for additional information or call me anytime at 384-5234!

Warmly,
Miss Becker
