Summer Skills Camp and Summer Enrichment Camp…Off to a GREAT Start!

Traditionally, most schools are quiet places during the summer months…but that is not the case here at Cohocton Elementary School! This summer we are offering both Summer Skills Camp and Summer Enrichment Camps for the entire month of July. There are about 50 students in Summer Skills Camp, working with Ms. Manley, Miss Wyant, Ms. Hillier, Mrs. Rethmel and Mrs. McMahon on important areas of reading such as fluency, comprehension, phonics, decoding and vocabulary! Students are LOVING all of the wonderful activities they complete in class as well as the special “fun” that Summer Intern Angie Conway plans for them daily, including stories outside, visits from the fire company, water balloon tosses and of course…The Cha Cha Slide! Highlights also include earning “Camper of the Day” and “Perfect Attendance” awards! For Summer Enrichment, we have about 100 kids each week taking classes of their choice, including Cooking Around the World, Sign Language, So You Want to Be an Author, Travel Through Time with the Magic Tree House, Create-Imagine-Explore-Dream, Outdoor Explorers, Sports and Games, Kids in the Kitchen and Exploring Science!

Special thank you to the bus drivers, transportation department, cafeteria staff, custodians, secretary, nurses, technology department and teachers for making this all happen for our students! By the end of the summer we will have over 220 students participate in this excellent opportunity!
