Lisa Nichols
formerly Lisa Steiner

4th Grade
Room 201
Cohocton Elementary
Hello,

My name is Lisa Nichols. I am a new teacher here at Cohocton Elementary and new to the profession. This is my first year teaching in my own classroom, though I do have plenty of experience. I have participated in over 100 hours of volunteer work in the Rochester City School Districts. I have also completed 325 hours of work in various classrooms including student teaching. I enjoy spending part of every summer vacation working at a camp for students with special needs too. All of these experiences have helped me develop a love for learning, both for my students and myself.

My educational journey began in the Rochester City Schools, but I did attend Wayland High School for a brief period. My college career began at Monroe Community College, where I planned to learn about being a Scientist, but soon discovered my love of working with children. From there I transferred to SUNY Geneseo, where I received two bachelor's degrees and graduated cum laude. I was also able to study Literacy Education practices in Exeter, England. Currently, I am attending Nazareth College, in Pittsford, NY. I am in the Master's Literacy Education Program. My love for reading and writing has paved my educational path.

Other "loves" of mine include motorcycles, extreme sports, shopping with my friends, and spending a lot of time outdoors enjoying nature and the company of my family. I was married this August and am the mother of a four year old little boy (whom many of my students know from recess).Overall I would describe myself as an energetic optimist, and this translates into a teacher that cares about each of her students, believes they ALL can learn, and strives to make learning fun.

I look forward to the rest of the year with my wonderful FIRST CLASS.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Nichols
