PHYSICAL EDUCATION
 PHYSICAL EDUCATION SYLLABUS
 

CLASS PROCEDURES
• Be on time
• Proper attire—Appropriate shorts, t-shirt, and sneakers
(cold weather-sweatshirt and sweatpants)
• No Jewelry, gum, or hats
• No food or drink in MS Gym or locker-rooms
• Lockers to be locked at all times
• Be responsible for your belongings
• Injuries must be reported to teacher at the time it happens
• Must remain in MS Gym until the period ends


GRADING
Every 5 week marking period will be worth 100 points
10 points – Knowledge (written Quiz)
90 points—Daily grade (skills, safety, strategy)

DAILY GRADE consists of the following 3 attributes:
APPLICATION OF SKILLS (Skills test)

3 = uses three legal skills effectively
2 = uses two legal skills effectively
1 = uses fewer that two legal skills
0 = No effort given

APPLICATION OF STRATEGY (Participation)

3 = Moves into appropriate position and selects proper skill
2 = Attempts appropriate skill and plays in generally correct position but is not strategically effective.
1 = Can explain concepts of basic strategies, but movement is inconsistent and/or inappropriate
0 = No effort given

PERSONAL/SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY & SAFETY (Attitude & Effort)

3 = plays energetically, with self-control & respect for fair play, safety & positive experience with others. Fully prepared
2 = Maintains self-control & shows respect for safety & the positive experience of others but may do so inconsistently. Partially prepared
1 = Need reminders & encouragement from others to play, but usually plays safely. Participated but not prepared.
0 = No effort given

KNOWLEDGE (Written test)

Tests are given each unit. Points are average with the Daily grade for the unit grade.

10 pts.—all correct

9 pts. – 1 wrong

8 pts. – 2 wrong 

7 pts. – 3 wrong 

6 pts. – 4 wrong 

5 pts. – 5 wrong

4 pts. – 6 wrong

3 pts. – 7 wrong

2 pts. – 8 wrong

1 pts. – 9 wrong
