"My philosophy of education is very simple.  I start each day with a basic question ,"How will I make a difference for kids today?"  If at the end of each day, I can give an answer to this question, I feel I have had a successful day. "

~Todd Campbell

Meet Mr. Campbell, our Principal!

When most people think of a principal they may think of someone who sits in an office enforcing the rules all day. I guess enforcing the rules and keeping everyone safe is a big part of the job but there is so much more.

I enjoy being out with the students whether it is in the cafeteria, classroom, gym or on the playground. This gives me an opportunity to really get to know them and for them to see me in a different light. Yes, Mr. Campbell can be seen in a kickball game every now and then.

The increasing pressure of state mandates and challenges that education faces cannot be underestimated. One of my biggest jobs is to keep us moving forward in those areas but to never lose track of that personal touch with each child. All children long for that personal connection with teachers as well as with their principal.

I feel very privileged to work in a community that is dedicated to its children and school. My grandfather told me that if you do something you enjoy you never work a day in your life. That is how I feel about my job as a principal. I have the best job in the world and embrace the daily challenges it brings.

I grew up in the Adirondacks in a small town very similar to Wayland called Harrisville. It is 40 miles north of Watertown. I graduated from Houghton College and taught 5th and 6th grade for 9 years in the Letchworth School District. I spent 4 years in Perry as the Elementary Assistant Principal (1 year) and the Middle School Principal (3 years).  I am married to a wonderful wife, Angela, and have three handsome sons, Brennen, Tyler and Cameron.

I am confident that together we will continue the fine education that is offered by the Wayland-Cohocton School District. You have much to be proud of and thankful for being part of this community and school system. I am looking forward to meeting all of you. Please stop by anytime, e-mail, or give me a call. Be cheerful,

Mr. Campbell
