"Be all that you can be."

Dave Mastin, Wayland-Cohocton Business Manager

Mr. Mastin has served the WCCS community as the District Business Manager for seven years. His responsibilities include working with all non-instructional staff. Outside of his business management responsibilities, Mr. Mastin maintains all of the necessary safety assurances for the buildings. These include policies and regulations, practices and equipment and maintaining the seemingly endless requirements from many outside agencies.

As Business Manager, Mr. Mastin helps prepare the budget and oversees the purchases made by the district. Mr. Mastin holds a degree in Business Administration from Alfred State College and from Cornell University in Bank Administration.

Prior to WCCS, Mr. Mastin worked in commercial and retail banking. While working for the First National Bank in Wayland, Mr. Mastin established the student bank teller program in which students worked half-days at the bank then attended school half-days. Countless WCCS students continue to participate in this valuable program. Likewise, a Bank Branch at WCCS was opened under his leadership and it continues to function in the district as a student-operated program.

A native to Springwater, Mr. Mastin and his wife Faith have two children, both of whom graduated from WCCS. Brandon is in the Marine Corp and Lauren is currently attending Alfred University. Coaching has been a constant in Mr. Mastin’s personal time. He has worked with everything including t-ball. Most recently he assisted with a national traveling girls fast-pitch softball team. And of course, he enjoys anytime he can find in the great outdoors, especially hunting.

Mr. Mastin has been working at implementing a student ID system. Part of that system is has already been implemented through the cafeteria program and additional pieces are being planned for the 2003-2004 school year. The system will increase the efficiency of many of WCCS programs and processes within the school as well as provide additional safety for the students and staff.

“I have the greatest job in the world,” said Mastin. “I get to provide the facilities to teach our youth everything from AP Biology to softball. The school is its own little city within the community. We have our own transportation and food service. Our product is education.”
