Power point Presentation Final Project

Introduction:

 Each of you read a memoire written by a victim of the Holocaust. Many victims asked that we “Do not forget them”, to this end, you are to create a biographical tribute for each person and present the power point to the class as a way to honor their lives.

• Task:

Create an interesting biography that will be remembered and honor each victim.

Your task is to research and create a Biographical power point presentation based on the Holocaust memoire you have read.

You will narrate the life of this person in words and pictures, and describe their experience in the Holocaust.

Requirements:

• Use details from the book you have read to prepare and present a

power point of the person’s life.

• Use internet and resource library books to document the information.
• Find background information so that you can present a detailed biography.
• Find out where they were born and describe the town, city, and country they lived in.
• Include a map.
• Include information about their families, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, Grandparents and other family members.
• Describe what education they had, where did they go to school, etc.
• Then as the war enters their world, tell what happened to them.
• Where were they ordered to go?
• How did they get there?
• Describe the events as they occurred.
• If they were sent to more than one camp or ghetto, include each place with maps and pictures of each.
• If the person was sent to a concentration camp, describe the location including detailed information about the camp.
• Include a map and pictures, and statistics. For example, how many persons were there at the time, number of deaths, diseases, the barracks, schedule, etc.
• Include detailed facts, pictures, and maps.
• Tell what happened to the victim both in the camp, and after liberation if they survived.
• Do not forget pictures!

Directions for Research:

Days 1-4 May 16-19th

1.      Review the internet sites provided on my library web page, and the book you have read to access the information that you need.

2.      Create a word document to record your notes.

3.      Use ONLY the sites that are on my Library Web Page. You will need at least two web sites and one book source. (research books are in the HS Library).

4.      Select articles, maps, graphs, and charts that will apply to your topic and save what you need for your biography on a word document.

5.      Read the articles, and condense the information to use on the slides.

6.      Create Speech notes as to what you will say about each slide, you may not read the slides as you present. Speech notes are the narration which you will use to tell the story on each slide.

7.      Make a work cited page to include on the last slide of the presentation.

Days 5-9 May 20-26th

8.      Review the Power point guideline on my library website and follow the directions precisely. YOU MAY USE 10-12 WORDS PER LINE, and 2-3 sentence quotations.

9.      NEVER CUT and PASTE information; except for pictures, graphs, and charts.

10.  ALL WORDS ON SLIDES MUST BE YOUR OWN.

11.  After you have gathered adequate information you may prepare your power point presentation.

12.  There is a 25 Slide minimum and a 35 slide maximum for this project.

13.  DUE DATE IS MAY 31^st – hand in your flash drive and be ready to present.

Grading Criteria:

• Be prepared to hand in your flash drive and present to the class on May 31^st.

20 points will be deducted for each day late.

• You will have to use time outside of class to complete the assignment.

(I will be available each day for help in the Library 13^th period.)

• You must follow the power point directions.
• You will present a power point presentation to the class.
• The information must be accurate and complete according to the book you read.

(Remember, I have read all the books.)

• You must include pictures, maps, and statistics.
• Your main source of information will come from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum; www.ushmm.org. You may follow any links that you find there for more information on your subject.
• Grades will include the following: details of research preparation, work habits, the power point itself according to the guidelines, information accuracy and depth, presentation skills.
• The grade you receive will be doubled, and a research work grade will be given for each week we are working in the library. These grades will make up the majority of the grades you receive for the final 40 week grade.

I will be available in the Library 13^th periods to help you every day but Thursdays.
