Back to Middle School

Each month students are recognized and nominated for their overall contribution to the school community. Consideration is made based on students’ attitude, behavior, effort and citizenship. By being nominated, students are eligible to be featured on the Middle School Wall of Excellence displayed in the foyer. A random drawing determines which nominee will be featured each month.

Fifth Grade On the Wall

Samantha Smalt

Samantha is currently a 5th grade student at Wayland-Cohocton Middle School. Samantha was nominated for the Wall of Excellence for the following reasons:

Samantha consistently encourages others to do their best. She is on task and always ready to help others. Samantha is polite, respectful and focused. Keep up the great work, Samantha!

Samantha loves to play outside in her backyard and collect rocks. She is a member of The Girls Scouts and she also plays basketball. Samantha’s favorite foods are steak and corn on the cob and she likes the color neon green. Samantha likes Science with Mr. Gravelle and math, but her favorite teacher is Mrs. Hughes. The person that Samantha idolizes is True Jackson, because she is good at designing clothes.
 

Mackenzie Kota

Mackenzie is currently a 5th grade student at Wayland-Cohocton Middle School. Mackenzie was nominated for the Wall of Excellence for the following reasons:

Mackenzie is a pleasure to teach. She always comes to class prepared and is eager to learn. Mackenzie is attentive and takes great pride in her school work. She is a model student.

Mackenzie likes to hang out with her friends and family. She is a member of a traveling soccer team and loves to play soccer. Mackenzie’s favorite foods are steak and shrimp and her favorite color is neon green. Mackenzie loves science with Mr. Gravelle and she also enjoys writing. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Baker. The person that Mackenzie idolizes is Abby Wambach, because she is a great soccer player

Sixth Grade On the Wall

Kyle Hass

Kyle is currently a 6th grade student at Wayland-Cohocton Middle School. Kyle was nominated for the Wall of Excellence for the following reasons:

Kyle tries so hard to please and is a pleasure to have in class.

Kyle collects Mountain Dew bottles. He is a member of Robotics club and band. His favorite music is by Shinedown. Kyle likes Science, Social Studies and Math. His favorite subject is health and his favorite teacher is Mrs. Loop. The person that Kyle idolizes is Ozzy, because he is his favorite singer.

 

Lily Guido

Lily is currently a 6th grade student at Wayland-Cohocton Middle School. Lily was nominated for the  Wall of Excellence for the following reasons:

Lily is consistently prepared for class.

Lily likes to read. She is a member of Page Turners, The Girls Scouts, chorus and band. Lily’s favorite things are her friends, the color blue and nachos. She likes Math and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Loop. The person that Lily looks up to and the one that she admires the most is her mom, because she always supports her.

Seventh Grade On the Wall

Philip Groshner

Philip is currently a 7th grade student at Wayland-Cohocton Middle School. Philip was nominated for the Wall of Excellence for the following reasons:

Philip’s interest in academic achievement sets a high standard for his peers.

Philip likes reading books and building with his Legos. He is involved in chorus, band, Lego Robotics, Page Turners and soccer. Philip’s favorite things are Legos, hotdogs and the color green. He likes French and chorus and his favorite teacher is Mrs. Richey. The person that Philip looks up to is his sister, Hannah, because she never gives up.
 

Devin Cromp

Devin is currently a 7th grade student at Wayland-Cohocton Middle School. Devin was nominated for the Wall of Excellence for the following reasons:

Devin comes to class eager to learn. He is honest and willing to help others. Devin is a pleasure to have in class.

Devin likes to draw animals. His favorite teacher is Mr. Bondi and he likes Social Studies class the best.

Eighth Grade On the Wall

Alexys Martindale

Alexys is currently an 8th grade student at Wayland-Cohocton Middle School. Alexys was nominated for the Wall of Excellence for the following reasons:

Alexys is working hard to achieve academically. She goes above and beyond in chorus by performing for her peers, writing songs and entering many singing competitions. Alexys has been willing to change voice parts and is singing soprano this year. She is a great role model and inspiration.

Alexys loves to sing and dance. Music is the thing that makes her life complete. She also plays soccer, basketball and tennis. Alexys likes to eat salt ‘n vinegar chips. Her favorite subject is math, because she can challenge herself, but still be in her comfort zone and Ms. Burdick allows her to do so. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Richey, because she pushes her to excel outside of her comfort zone. Alexys idolizes Christina Aguilera because she is focused with her work and she is a great singer.

 

Brandon Sahrle

Brandon is currently an 8th grade student at Wayland-Cohocton Middle School. Brandon was nominated for the Wall of Excellence for the following reasons:

Brandon completes his class work diligently and volunteers to tutor peers in math after school. He is polite, compassionate and conscientious.

Brandon likes to ride his 4-wheeler and show his steers at the fair. He is a 4-H member and also a member of the football team. Brandon likes sports and music. His favorite subjects are French and band and his favorite teacher is Madame Marsh. The person that Brandon looks up to and the one that he admires the most is Kyle Carmen, because he was fun to hang around with.
