Students will practice listening, reading and writing skills in preparation for the Regents exam in 11th grade.

Accelerated English 11

Course Information

Instructor: Ms. Quinn

40 Week Course (2 Semesters) - 1 High School Credit

Prerequisites: Accelerated English 10 or a teacher recommendation

English 11 Accelerated entails a broader and more focused study of American Literature over standard Grade 11 English. In addition to the fundamental overview of literature, grammar and composition, the accelerated course will involve several more works of literature during the course of the year, concentrating on both classics and contemporary pieces of writing. The added works will supplement the students' preparation for the Regents Comprehensive Examination in English at the end of the eleventh grade year. Additional readings will enhance the students' basic repertoire and background for collegiate success following graduation from high school. Students would be expected to advance to the college-level English courses (College English 1 & College English 2) as an alternative to the standard English 12 courses offered in the senior year.
