Accelerated English 9

Course Information

Instructor: Ms. Nichols

40 Week Course (2 Semesters) - 1 High School Credit

Accelerated English 9 entails a broader study of literature over standard ninth grade English. In addition to the fundamental course overview of literature, grammar and composition, the accelerated course will involve several more novels during the course of the year (thereby increasing the pace of material covered) and more focused instruction leading to the Regents Comprehensive Examination in English in eleventh grade. This course is designed for the student seeking collegiate placement at an institution of higher learning following high school graduation. Accelerated English courses will follow in succeeding years (Accelerated English 10 and Accelerated English 11), culminating in college level English courses (College English 1 & College English 2) in the senior year of high school as an alternative to the standard English 12 courses offered in the senior year.
