Global History and Geography I is the first year of a two-year Regents course. A Regents examination is given at the end of Global History and Geography II that includes information learned in Global History and Gegraphy I. This Regents examination, as well as credit for both years of the course, must be passed for a student to graduate. Key topics for Global History and Geography I include the study of world history from the Paleolithic age to the French Revolution, excluding United States history. There is also a strong emphasis on writing skills. Students will learn how to write Regents level thematic and document-based essays. By the completion of this course, students will have the writing skills, and the necessary historical knowledge, to successfully move into Global History and Geography II.
