USDA extends free meal program
On August 31, 2020 the USDA issued a press release stating they are extending free meals until December 31, 2020 or until the funds appropriated by Congress are exhausted. Our interpretation is these meals will be free to students. Congress may also appropriate more money to feed students past December 31, 2020. We will fully communicate any changes on Wayland-Cohocton’s website. (www.wccsk12.org)
In the event the free emergency meal program ends, we will go back to a free, reduced and full Pay status using meal applications which can be found on our website. (CLICK HERE.) Please see our Breakfast and Lunch prices listed on our website. (CLICK HERE.) Families should apply using the application on our website.
Families should apply now for the Free and Reduced Meal program now, so that in the event funding is exhausted, you will be prepared to with meals for your children. Application processing time can be up to two weeks, particularly at times when large quantities of applications are being submitted, so please don’t wait for the free meal program to end to submit your application. Applications can be submitted anytime throughout the school year - which is important to know in case your family’s income status changes during the school year.
