Wayland-Cohocton's own fifth grade teacher, Jacque Hughes, has recently written and published a children's book, I Wish You Understood
The beautifully written and illustrated story is about her family's experience with autism spectrum disorder. It is a story that highlights two different perspectives - that of the main character Lily, and that of the parents. It helps to shed light on the "whys" of the behaviors and how a little perspective can go a long way.
