With expenses increasing and income plummeting in New York State, the Governor has told schools to anticipate a possible 20 percent decrease in state aid. For schools like Wayland-Cohocton, state aid makes up the majority of school revenues and a dramatic decreased could greatly impact programs and the tax levy.

While school officials are working hard to mitigate that impact for our own local district, the final figures of state aid allocations have yet to be released. This delay further complicates planning as the time nears for local districts to present their budgets to the community for voter approval.

Superintendent Eileen Feinman sent letters to US Senators Gillibrand and Schumer to advocate on behalf of New York State schools.
