NJHS Inductees

The Wayland-Cohocton Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society inducted a large number of members into its fold on Monday, May 6th. During a ceremony steeped in tradition the new inductees were recognized for their accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, character and citizenship. 

This year’s inductees include: 

  • In Grade Six: Amy Burpee, Thomas Crawford, William Goodwin, Weston Mehlenbacher, Ayasha Murray, Jacob Polito, Sierra Shetler, Aleeah Shutt, Autumn Waight, Parker Yanni;

  • In Grade Seven: Colleen Carney, Samantha Fedorchuk, Riley Goodwin, Kataleyna Green, Cashton Hober, Kayla Jordan, Carter McMichael, Kailynn Palmer, Ryan Sellers, Delanie Smith, Rylee Starks, Rebecca Whitney; 

  • In Grade Eight: John Drum, Garrett Mehlenbacher, Joleena Tucker.

Along with their advisors Mrs. Cassandra Willis and Mrs. Shelby Webster, the inductees were welcomed by current members during the ceremony after being escorted into the performing arts center by family and loved ones. During the ceremony Mrs. Webster and Mrs Willis introduced each inductee with very personal comments about their fine attributes. The character traits sought but the organization were shared by members Riley Barratt (scholarship and citizenship), Madelyn Smart (leadership), Ella Deusenbery (service), Macy Webster (character). NJHS Historian Ezerik Smart reviewed the Chapter’s history and Riley Barratt led the group in the NJHS Pledge. Also at the ceremony, Assistant Principal Mr. Chris Ballet lead the Pledge to Allegiance and Principal Mrs. Wendi Snyder introduced the characteristics. Mr. Ballet offered a farewell to outgoing eighth graders as they look forward to their move to high school.
