Wayland-Cohocton Central School District is pleased to announce we will be offering the Encompass After School Program again this year for students in the Middle School, grades 5-8. This program is made available through a partnership among Wayland-Cohocton Central School District and EnCompass Resources for Learning, a non-profit academic outreach agency. This academically-based program will engage students in small-group targeted ELA tutoring sessions, as well as Project-Based Learning opportunities. Together, kids and teachers discover, discuss, and investigate topics while also improving their reading skills.

We are looking forward to having a lot of fun and providing many meaningful learning experiences. Please consider enrolling your child so that he/she may join us in exploring interesting topics and answering questions about the world in which we live.

Here is some important information:

  • There is no charge for the program.

  • The after-school program dates are February 1 – June 11, 2021.

  • Students would attend 2 days per week (days based on your child’s cohort)

  • The program is open to students in the hybrid model (students would attend in-person on the days they are already in school), as well as students who are 100% virtual (students would attend virtually via Google Meet 2 days per week).

  • Students will receive targeted ELA tutoring/instruction with no more than a 1: 6 teacher/student ratio.

  • Extended learning opportunities will be provided in small group, socially-distanced settings using inquiry-based and project-based learning principles with ratios of 1 teacher for every 6 students.

  • During program hours, students will be provided with a healthy snack.

  • Virtual Family Nights will be held twice to share the experiences of the students.

  • The program is limited to forty-two students. Priority will be given on a first come, first served basis.

  • Due to no sports bus run this year, students would need to be picked up at 5:10 on program nights.. The district is not able to provide transportation home from program this year.
