This month Wayland-Cohocton staff were given the opportunity to earn their CPR certification and Narcan administration education for free during two after-school training sessions. WC;s own Ms. Kelly Brittingham taught the CPR class as a certified instructor and each participant left with a safety mask for administering CPR. Connie Terry of the Steuben Prevention Coalition Opioid Committee trained the attending staff in the administration of Narcan to combat opioid overdose. Each attendee was presented with two doses of Narcan, gloves, and a safety mask. Training was organized by Director of Facilities and Safety Scott Manne.

The high school robotics team is in the thick of preparing for its competition in February. While the team formed last year thanks to the strong advocacy of its members, this will be the first year the team competes. The First Tech Challenge is the next step of the competition program created by FIRST Inspires and requires advanced engineering skills which truly stretch the learning of these highly motivated students. The group is eternally grateful to Mr. Paul Holubek whose vast knowledge of almost everything keeps the team moving forward.
The recipient of the High School Golden Eagle Award for the week of October 15th was Anakin York-Miller. Anakin volunteered to be the Eagle at the high school pep rally. He did a great job hyping up the crowd and getting the students excited for homecoming. Being up there in front of a field house full of students takes a lot of guts and its great that Anakin stepped up to the plate!

This event is a great opportunity for families looking for special education and disability resources. Save the date for Saturday, November 15th from 1 to 4 pm at Avon Middle School.

The recipients of the High School Golden Eagle Award for the week of September 24th are Olivia Schecter and Kylee Gunderson! Olivia and Kylee took it upon themselves to organize, choreograph, and teach this year's senior dance for the annual pep rally. They have completely taken over the process and not needed any help from the advisors. Their practices were a lot of fun and resulted in an incredible performance that included a lot of students. A true sign of leadership. Additionally, Kylee is pushing herself to take some difficult classes this year despite the urge to have an easier senior year. Olivia, also is actively participating in numerous school events and shows her pride boldly. Great job to both of these students! Go Eagles!
