
The recipient of the Wayland-Cohocton High School Golden Eagle Award for Wednesday, December 12th is Bailey Obrecht! Bailey is an exceptional young woman who exhibits levels of kindness, maturity, and selflessness that are unrivaled by many her age. Bailey always goes out of her way to be a positive part of her peers’ and teachers’ days, all while being a very diligent and determined student. Bailey willingly has devoted her own time to assisting her teachers and peers with various tasks.

WCCS NHS Is conducting a collection drive to benefit Catholic Charities of Steuben and Livingston Counties to assist those needing some extra help during the holidays.


The recipient of the Wayland-Cohocton High School Golden Eagle Award for Wednesday, December 4th was Ethan Loop! Ethan has been putting in the work! He is a constant presence in the classroom 13th periods for some extra studying, consistently has his homework completed, and he is proactive to make up assignments before he misses class. Impressive Ethan! Keep it up!

The recipient of the Wayland-Cohocton High School Golden Eagle Award for November 26th was Orion Walker! Orion is a stellar young man. He is a positive leader in the classroom and will volunteer to help outside of the classroom whenever he can. He exemplifies what it means to be a WCCS Eagle.

Information will be shared regarding the proposed capital project scheduled to go before voters on Tuesday, December 17th. Information will include the various elements of the project and how the project is being funded. We hope to see you there.

Wayland-Cohocton families are reminded that tomorrow, Wednesday, December 4th is an early dismissal day. Please check your school calendar for specific dismissal information.

Join the Wayland-Cohocton Drama Club for its production of Fools by Neil Simon, December 5th, 6th and 7th at 7 pm. Admission is $5 at the door. The National Honor Society is sponsoring a food drive at the same time. Members will be collecting goods from 6 to 7:30 pm at the PAC the same nights as the play. They are asking for personal hygiene items and baking supplies (sugars, sprinkles, baking kits, etc.)

The recipient of the Wayland-Cohocton High School Golden Eagle Award for November 20th is Henry Caskey! Henry is crushing it at ACE Pre-Calc. He is the one you can depend on to come in before assessments to get some extra studying. He always has his work done, and he just has an awesome attitude about a difficult class Mrs. Churchman says, “When I grow up, I want to be like Caskey!”

The recipient of the Wayland-Cohocton High School Golden Eagle Award for November 13th was Dolan Cotter! There are many positive things to say about Dolan. He is a great student, a hard worker, a leader, and a model student. According to Mr. Flower, Dolan was instrumental in securing donations for the Military History class fundraiser for veterans. He continues to be one of the hardest workers in class. He takes an interest in what he is learning, and tries to master it. He always participates and always brings in his perspective to what we are learning about. It is a pleasure to have him in class.

The recipient of the Wayland-Cohocton High School Golden Eagle Award for November 6th was Payton Henry! Payton has changed the lives of so many around her due to her kindness. Payton is always kind, in a positive mood, and creates a welcoming environment for all. Payton has gone out of her way in the classroom to make sure that everyone feels included. Her kindness extends beyond the classroom as she builds genuine friendships with many students and views all without any judgment.

This recipient of the High School Golden Eagle Award for October 30th was Preston Aldrich! Preston spotted a student at the gym who dropped a barbell on themself and quickly took it upon himself to go help the student. He is always helpful and focused in the fitness room and is a model to all others when it comes to lifting and strength training.

The recipient of the High School Golden Eagle Award for October 23rd was Gwen Hargrave! Gwen is at it again this year. She is voluntarily giving up a study hall each day to help tutor students who need help in math. When she is not tutoring, Gwen is willing to help with any task that is asked of her because she would rather be productive with her time than sit idly in a study hall. Your help is appreciated Gwen, thank you!

The recipient of the High School Golden Eagle Award for October 16th was Parker Garibaldi! Parker is kind and empathetic towards all of his peers, without expecting anything in return. Parker is the kind of person that makes everyone in the room feel included and is not one to shy away from doing the right thing, even if he is the only one doing it. Parker's kind demeanor is what draws his peers to him as they respect him as a leader. Thank you for all that you do Parker!
