The community has generously donated items to assist the families and individuals that have lost their homes to the Main Street fire in Wayland. In addition, clothing which had been donated for the Cohocton Community Clothing Give-Away has been included in the items that are available at the Wayland American Legion on Main Street in Wayland.

Individuals and families impacted by the fire are encouraged to come to the Legion to collect clothing and toiletries all day Thursday, February 24th. There is a wide array of clothing including coats, shoes, pants, tops, sweaters, sweatshirts, bedding and toiletries. If any of these families are in need of assistance in getting to the Legion to pick up supplies, please contact Melonie Coley at 607-590-8851 and we will arrange transportation for them.

On Friday, February 25th, from noon to 4 p.m. the clothing give-away will be extended for the general public. Organizers hope this will help other families in the district who may be in need of clothing items, after first addressing the needs of those who have been affected by the fire.

Thank you to all of the people and community organizations that have rallied to support these families and individuals. Thank you to all of the emergency responders who have worked tirelessly to fight the fires and keep our neighborhoods safe. As a school community, we are particularly proud of all of the students who assisted in setting up the American Legion for the event and to the American Legion being the host.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions.
