The following message was emailed to all families Sunday evening at about 7:45 p.m.

December 11, 2022

Dear Wayland-Cohocton Families:

We regret this information coming to you so late this evening, however, due to driver absenteeism the Wayland-Cohocton Central School District does not have enough drivers to cover some runs for Monday morning, December 12, 2022.

As a result, the following bus runs are being affected:

  • Bus 35: Both morning runs impacted

  • Bus 60: Both morning runs impacted

  • Bus 55: Both morning runs impacted

Due to this shortage, students on these runs will not be picked up until after the 9 a.m. run has been completed. For families impacted this could be anywhere between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Families with elementary students on these runs can drop their students off at the elementary entrance beginning at 7:30 a.m. and we will provide supervision until school starts. Students should be dropped off at the end of the elementary building, near the playground. Any high school students who have to come late, the district will send a late bus to BOCES for those students.

We are asking that families who are able to, transport their children to school. We understand that for some families this creates an issue of childcare and we are sorry for the complications this creates.

We will do our best to limit how this impacts families and will provide further information regarding afternoon runs throughout the day on Monday.

We ask that in the morning only emergency calls are made to the transportation department, as the driver shortage will make it important to keep the lines open for only immediate and necessary communications.

Sincerely,

WC Administration
