Family Swim on Friday!

Tonight's Homecoming Bonfire has been canceled due to the NYS Burn Ban that is currently in place because of drought conditions. Please come to the Cohocton Sports Complex and enjoy the football game, senior night and the introduction of the 2025 Wayland-Cohocton Homecoming Court. Don't forget - the concession stand will have those delicious fresh cut french fries, famous the world over!

This is Homecoming Week and Cohocton Fall Foliage Festival weekend! Join in the school fun and visit the festival all at the same time! Please be a good sport while attending the athletic events! Don't forget the concession stand is open for those famous freshly cut fries! Thank you to everyone from the community that makes this special time for our students so much fun! GO EAGLES!

Join us for some fun next week! It is HOMECOMING SPIRIT WEEK for everyone! (Theme days vary slightly in the buildings.) Keep an eye out for other events the whole community can enjoy! GO EAGLES!

Family Swim Night is happening on Friday, September 12th from 6 to 8 pm in the Wayland-Cohocton Pool. The cost is $5 per person; children under 2 years of age are free. Non-swimmers must have an adult in the water with them; and 12-and-under must have an adult in the pool area. Any US Coast Guard flotation devices are permitted.

CROSSWALK SAFETY: While the Wayland community patiently waits for Routes 63 and 21 to be painted, we ask everyone to be especially cautious of students walking to school. Without clearly marked crosswalks, students may be more likely to cross streets in unexpected locations. Morning traffic at the school entrance can also be a bit confusing without the turning lane painted on Route 63.
We are grateful to the village crossing guard stationed at Washington and Naples Streets for helping students arrive safely, and to Officer Terry for assisting with traffic flow and welcoming students on campus this morning. Thank you to all drivers and community members for your patience and extra care as we wait for our freshly painted streets.

School Bus Safety Reminder
As a new school year begins, Wayland-Cohocton wants to remind everyone to keep our students safe by following school bus laws. When a bus has its red lights flashing and the STOP sign arm extended, all traffic—both directions—must stop. Passing a stopped school bus is not only illegal but also puts children at serious risk. Please be alert, slow down in school zones and neighborhoods, and give buses and their passengers the right of way. A moment of patience can prevent a lifetime of regret. Thank you Officer VanDunk for helping to keep us safe!

Just a reminder, WCCS provides the materials your child needs for learning during the 2025-2026 school year. Families should provide appropriate sneakers for physical education and a bookbag or backpack. If your child is of an age to bring their Chromebooks home for the summer, please locate those Chromebooks and chargers and get them charged. Have your student check them over and if they need any service, please bring them to school so your child can start school off with their Chromebook working. Open houses will be held on Wednesday, August 27th. We look forward to seeing students return on Tuesday, September 2nd.
