The Board of Education will participate in a learning opportunity on Tuesday, October 10th prior to the regularly scheduled Board meeting. In order to accommodate this event, the meeting time for that meeting only will be moved to 6:30 p.m. The meeting will still be held in the LGI.

WELCOME BACK! The Wayland-Cohocton buses are rolling out onto the roads this morning for our first AM run on the first day of school of the 2023-2024 school year! Please be ready a few minutes early and remember that buses might also run a little later than normal the first few weeks of school. As you commute to work or are out and about, please watch for our buses and students walking to and from the campuses. Give yourself a few extra minutes for the morning commute. We are so excited about today and having students back for another year of learning! GO EAGLES!

WCCS Prekindergarten Families: Please check your email sent a few minutes ago regarding Arrival and Departure Procedures on the Cohocton campus. We are excited to see your children tomorrow, Thursday, September 7th for the first day of school! WC Prekindergarten and Elementary Schools from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Middle and High Schools from 5:30 to 7: 30 p.m. This is a great time for students and their families to get acquainted with the buildings, their schedules and their teachers. Older students can practice their lockers and map their course for their days! We look forward to seeing you!

Wayland-Cohocton Parent Teacher Student Organization will meet on Tuesday, August 15th at 6 p.m. in the Middle School Media Center. Everyone is welcome. Please join us! Students welcome too!

Good Morning WCCS Families: Reminder that school supplies are provided by the district. Students need to have appropriate sneakers and clothing (HS& MS) for physical education and it is recomended that students have a backpack or bag to carry homework and other items to home and back. Please remember, that WCCS has qualified for free breakfast and lunch for all families. We look forward to seeing you at Open House on Tuesday, September 5th. Students' first day of school is Thursday, September 7th.

Wayland-Cohocton Elementary Families: If you haven't already done so - please turn in your transportation request forms if your child will be need pick-up/drop-off at a location other than your home. If you are the parent of an incoming kindergarten student and have not already done so, please register for Kinder Camp. This is an important opportunity to become familiar with Wayland-Cohocton Elementary School, kindergarten staff and teachers and expectations.

As part of the summer maintenance work at Wayland-Cohocton, the Field House parking lot is scheduled to be remilled the week of July 31st through August 4th. Weather permitting the parking lot should reopen on August 7th. The community is asked to respect barricades and to use the alternative entrances that will be marked. The High School entrance adjacent to the fiberglass Eagle will be open for access to the weight room. Student athletes attending training sessions will receive specific information from their coaches on alternative plans and how to access the building. Any community programs accessing the soccer fields or tennis courts will need to park in the High School parking lot and walk to the fields on the grass or sidewalks, or park in the Elementary School parking lot near the playground. The shipping and receiving area of the school (adjacent to the rear of the Field House, Greenhouse, Elementary and Middle School Cafeteria, will not be accessible. We ask that individuals not park there. Please do not drive across the school yards or fields in order to access areas that are otherwise accessed by the Field House parking lot. Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to upkeep and maintain our facilities.

Hello PreK Families! Remember that Playground and Popsicles is this Friday, July 21st from 3:30-5:30pm at the Cohocton building to meet the new Early Childhood Coordinator, Dr. Katie Recktenwald. Please stop by to say hi and eat a yummy treat!

Don't forget children 18 and under can get free breakfast (8 a.m. to 9 a.m.) and lunch (11:30 a.m. to noon) in the Wayland-Cohocton Middle School Cafeteria through Aug. 10th. No qualifications or paperwork are required. Enter at the Middle School doors (under the clock) on the Wayland campus. Children may walk or ride their bikes if they are an appropriate age to do so. Meals must be eaten in the cafeteria. Adults are welcome to accompany children and bring along a snack or lunch for themselves. ‘22-’23 PreK Families: Please submit your responses to the ThoughtExchange survey emailed to you last week. If you have already submitted your responses, you may want to take another look to see what others have had to say as you can “rate” their responses as well. We appreciate you taking the time to respond as it allows us to make improvements in upcoming years.

PreK Update: Due to the pending inclement weather, we have made some changes to our Friday, June 16th schedule: PreK 3 Field Day will be from 10 am - 11 am.  Please come to the main office to sign in.  Families will start the day in your child's classroom and then proceed to the cafeteria for lunch.  After lunch, families will be able to sign out their children with classroom staff. Our PreK 4 schedule is not changing.  After your child's ceremony, families are welcome to take pictures in the building/classroom with your child.  Lunch will be provided in the cafeteria at the conclusion of your child's moving up ceremony. We were able to make changes with our fun activities that were planned for Friday.  We will have bounce houses on our campus tomorrow for students to enjoy! Wayland-Cohocton Families are reminded that next, Friday, June 9th is the deadline to register for summer programs including Camp Invention, Invention Project, Middle School Enrichment, Summer Swim Programs, Everyone Can Move, and more!
