Good morning, Wayland-Cohocton Elementary Eagle Families! We are off to a new and exciting school year and it was simply wonderful to have our students join us yesterday. The energy and enthusiasm that fills our learning spaces and hallways is rejuvinating! To help our families navigate our new rotation schedule for specials, we will be creating monthly calendarsl and pubishing them to our school website under the academics tab. WELCOME BACK! The Wayland-Cohocton buses are rolling out onto the roads this morning for our first AM run on the first day of school of the 2023-2024 school year! Please be ready a few minutes early and remember that buses might also run a little later than normal the first few weeks of school. As you commute to work or are out and about, please watch for our buses and students walking to and from the campuses. Give yourself a few extra minutes for the morning commute. We are so excited about today and having students back for another year of learning! GO EAGLES!

WC Prekindergarten and Elementary Schools from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Middle and High Schools from 5:30 to 7: 30 p.m. This is a great time for students and their families to get acquainted with the buildings, their schedules and their teachers. Older students can practice their lockers and map their course for their days! We look forward to seeing you!

Wayland-Cohocton Parent Teacher Student Organization will meet on Tuesday, August 15th at 6 p.m. in the Middle School Media Center. Everyone is welcome. Please join us! Students welcome too!

Good Morning WCCS Families: Reminder that school supplies are provided by the district. Students need to have appropriate sneakers and clothing (HS& MS) for physical education and it is recomended that students have a backpack or bag to carry homework and other items to home and back. Please remember, that WCCS has qualified for free breakfast and lunch for all families. We look forward to seeing you at Open House on Tuesday, September 5th. Students' first day of school is Thursday, September 7th.

Wayland-Cohocton Elementary Families: If you haven't already done so - please turn in your transportation request forms if your child will be need pick-up/drop-off at a location other than your home. If you are the parent of an incoming kindergarten student and have not already done so, please register for Kinder Camp. This is an important opportunity to become familiar with Wayland-Cohocton Elementary School, kindergarten staff and teachers and expectations.

As part of the summer maintenance work at Wayland-Cohocton, the Field House parking lot is scheduled to be remilled the week of July 31st through August 4th. Weather permitting the parking lot should reopen on August 7th. The community is asked to respect barricades and to use the alternative entrances that will be marked. The High School entrance adjacent to the fiberglass Eagle will be open for access to the weight room. Student athletes attending training sessions will receive specific information from their coaches on alternative plans and how to access the building. Any community programs accessing the soccer fields or tennis courts will need to park in the High School parking lot and walk to the fields on the grass or sidewalks, or park in the Elementary School parking lot near the playground. The shipping and receiving area of the school (adjacent to the rear of the Field House, Greenhouse, Elementary and Middle School Cafeteria, will not be accessible. We ask that individuals not park there. Please do not drive across the school yards or fields in order to access areas that are otherwise accessed by the Field House parking lot. Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to upkeep and maintain our facilities.

Don't forget children 18 and under can get free breakfast (8 a.m. to 9 a.m.) and lunch (11:30 a.m. to noon) in the Wayland-Cohocton Middle School Cafeteria through Aug. 10th. No qualifications or paperwork are required. Enter at the Middle School doors (under the clock) on the Wayland campus. Children may walk or ride their bikes if they are an appropriate age to do so. Meals must be eaten in the cafeteria. Adults are welcome to accompany children and bring along a snack or lunch for themselves. Wayland-Cohocton Elementary Eagle Families: Wednesday, June 21st and Thursday, June 22nd, elementary parent pick-up will begin at 11:20 am and buses are expected to leave the bus loop at approximately 11:40 am. To ensure a smooth and safe dismissal, your child should keep their normal dismissal routine. We wish you a safe and joyful summer.

Wayland-Cohocton Elementary has a limited number of extra yearbooks available to purchase. They are $13.00 each. Please send in cash or a check payable to WCTA, with your child or they are available to purchase from the office.

Our Fourth Grade EOY Field Trip to Camp Stella Maris is a go today...with a drizzle-free forecast slated until noon. We are excited that Mother Nature was not able to rain our fourth graders' parade!

Parents/Guardians, The Kindergarten Field Days have been rescheduled for June 15. The students will arrive at approximately 10:00 at Stony Brook State Park. They will have Field Day activities for approximately one hour before finishing with their lunch and fun time with their teachers/class

Parents/Guardians, The First Grade Field Days have been rescheduled for June 15. The students will arrive at approximately 11:20 at Stony Brook State Park. They will have Field Day activities for approximately one hour before finishing with their lunch and fun time with their teachers/class.

Due to forecasted thunderstorms, today's Wayland-Cohocton first grade field days at Stony Brook will be postponed. We will update families on the scheduled information later today. Thank you.

Clarification for Wayland-Cohocton Fourth Grade: The Fourth Grade will celebrate with a Bridging Ceremony on Wednesday, June 14th in the Performing Arts Center at 9:30 a.m. Families should enter at the Performing Arts Center to be signed in prior to the ceremony. Following the ceremony, students will travel to Stony Brook for the annual field day. Parents can plan on meeting their children there at about 10:45 a.m. On Friday, June 16th, the Fourth Grade students will be taking a field trip to Camp Stella Maris.

Clarification for Wayland-Cohocton Kindergarten: Thursday, June 8th is the Kindergarten Field Day at Stony Brook. Parents should plan on meeting classes at  Stony Brook Park. Events will start at approximately 10 a.m. Kindergarten will visit the Seneca Zoo on Friday, June 9th. The Kindergarten End-of-the-Year Celebration will be held in the Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, June 20th at 9:30 a.m. Families should enter at the Performing Arts Center and will be signed in there. Families can begin to arrive 45 minutes prior to the start of the event at 8:45 a.m.
