Happy Memorial Day Weekend, Eagle Families! We wanted to send out a couple reminders or bits of information to our families. Absence Reporting: *First, please remember when your child is absent from school, we are required to receive a reason for your child's absence before he/she may return to school. Based on the absence information, the school nurse may need to contact you/ speak to you to clear your child to return to school due the guidelines we must follow from the Department of Health. *To minimize the need for phone calls and make reporting more convenient for our families, we have created a Way-Coh Elementary Absence Reason Form. Click on the following link to report each absence: https://forms.gle/S7vc2JbLDNY8RqHk7. This link is also located on the Wayland Elementary School website (https://www.wccsk12.org/o/wes) for ease of access. Chromebooks: *Repairing damaged Chromebooks can become costly for our District and families. Please make sure your child keeps his/her Chromebook cover on their Chromebooks for protection purposes. *Chromebooks will be collected from students who are moving out of district at the end of the school year. All other elementary students that have been issued Chromebooks will keep their Chromebooks until the start of the 21-22 school year. Our Technology Team will be coming around to check our Chromebook inventory for damage and collect any that need repair. They will be giving loaners to students that have damaged Chromebooks. *Please make sure Chromebook use is focused on school-approved content. Parental oversight is critical. Our internet filters will be on and school principals will be notified of any inappropriate searches or attempted access of inappropriate content. Follow up will be made with students/ families in these cases. Please enjoy your long weekend as a family!

Wayland-Cohocton reminds families, staff and the community that while state requirements for masking have lessened allowing vaccinated individuals to be maskless out of doors, NYS Education regulations have not changed. When on school grounds, inside or outside, during or after school hours, and at school activities like athletic competitions the community is reminded that they must be masked. This includes drop-offs and pick-ups, athletic events, playing on the playground after school hours, using the outdoor track facilities or walking on campus. WC appreciates everyone’s cooperation as we continue to have COVID-19 cases in school. It is important that students can finish the last few weeks of school and participate in year-end activities.
