Wayland-Cohocton will host a hiring event on Monday, November 21 from 10 a.m. to noon and 3 to 6 p.m. in the Middle School Gymnasium. The district will be specifically recruiting for the substitute positions of teachers, teaching assistants, teacher aides, cleaners, bus attendants, bus drivers, food service helpers, secretaries and maintenance/groundskeepers.

“With the current shortages of labor, we are hoping this friendly, easily accessed event will encourage people who may not know what it means to be a substitute employee to come in and learn more about working at Wayland-Cohocton,” said Human Resource Coordinator Laurie Raymond. “We will have a number of resources and individuals able to answer questions about what it is like to work in these substitute positions.  There are advantages to working as a substitute.  It allows you more flexibility in your schedule to help balance work life and family life.  It can be an ideal working situation for someone that does not need or want to work every day, but does want to earn some extra income.  Substitutes choose when they are available to work and in most instances can work as much or as little as they want.”

Interested candidates can complete an application in person or one online. (Applications can be found by going online to: https://bit.ly/joineagles.) Everyone attending the event is asked to bring a driver's license or legal picture identification. For those completing the application in person, please bring with you your references’ contact information and work history. Administrators will be on hand to complete an interview on the spot. Applicants should plan to spend at least 30 minutes. Following the event, reference checks will be completed and accepted applicants will be contacted to be fingerprinted. Board-approved individuals who meet employment requirements will be reimbursed for fingerprinting costs.

“This event has been designed to accelerate the hiring process so that individuals who meet all of the requirements can begin employment by the beginning of 2023,” added Raymond. “We also made the access to campus easier that day as there will not be students present as it is parent-teacher conference day.”

Applicants can park in the front parking lot near the Performing Arts Center (PAC) and enter at the PAC. The event will be held in the Middle School Gymnasium, which is located close to the entrance.
