Dear Wayland-Cohocton Parents,

We are excited to announce the return of the STELLAR Enrichment eExtended School Day Program for the upcoming school year. This program offers a unique opportunity for elementary and middle school students, grades 2-8, to engage in enriching activities that foster growth in Science, Teamwork, Engineering, Literacy, Leadership, Arts, and Recreation (STELLAR).

Program Overview:

  • Program Focus: The STELLAR program is centered around project-based learning, where students and teachers collaborate to explore a variety of subjects and engage in hands-on activities.

  • Academic Support: Small group tutoring sessions in English Language Arts (ELA) will provide targeted assistance to students, utilizing data-driven approaches.

  • Project-Based Learning: Through a partnership with the Boston Museum of Science, students will have opportunities to immerse themselves in STEM-based learning, encouraging critical thinking and inquiry.

  • Enrichment Activities: Students will have the chance to develop their well-being through artistic endeavors such as painting, crafting, knitting, vocal music, drama, and more.

Important Details:

  • Program Dates: The STELLAR program will run from October 5, 2023, to March 27, 2024.

  • Attendance: Students will attend the program three days a week—Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

  • Program Hours: The program will operate from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

  • Engaging Curriculum: Students will experience enjoyable project-based learning activities, beneficial enrichment opportunities, and focused ELA tutoring during program hours.

  • Family Nights: There will be two Family Nights where students can showcase their experiences and achievements.

  • Limited Slots: The program can accommodate fifty-two elementary and fifty-two middle school students, assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Transportation: Busing will be available on the 5:40 pm sports bus run.

  • Eligibility: The program is exclusively for students enrolled in the Wayland-Cohocton Central School District.

Application Process:

  • Applications will be in middle schoolers’  envelopes that they receive at open house, and elementary teachers will have applications in their classroom for open house.  Applications and information letters will also be accessible at the Elementary and Middle School offices until Monday, 2nd, 2023.
