Dear WCCS Community,
On behalf of the Wayland-Cohocton Central School District Board of Education and administration, thank you to everyone who participated in the school budget vote and Board of Education election.
We are pleased to share the following results:
Proposition #1 - Budget
Resolved, the Board of Education of the Wayland-Cohocton Central School District is hereby authorized and directed to to expend an ammon not to excess $39,783,850 for the 2026-2027 school year and to levy the necessary tax for the support of said budget. To also approve the expenditure from The Vehicle and Equipment Reserve Fund not to exceed $500,000 for the purchase of one (1) 24 passenger diesel school bus, one (1) 28 passenger handicap accessible diesel school bus, one (1) pick up truck and one (1) mower.

Proposition #2 - Public Library
Resolved, the Board of Education of the Wayland-Cohocton Central School District is hereby authorized and directed to increase the special tax levy for the support of the Wayland Free Library, the Cohocton Public Library, and the E.J. Cottrell Memorial Library.

Proposition #3 - Board of Education Election
The candidate receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected to a five (5) year term commencing on July 1, 2026 and expiring on June 30, 2031. The candidate receiving the second highest number of votes shall be elected to a one (1) year term commencing on July 1, 2026 and expiring on June 30, 2027

This was a very positive outcome for Wayland-Cohocton and a strong show of support for our students, staff, and future direction as a district.
