Mr.Geoffrey Hurley

Wayland-Cohocton is pleased to announce that Mr. Geoffrey Hurley will be serving as the Assistant Principal in the High School. Students are most likely familiar with him as a physical education and health teacher. 

“I am excited to jump into a different role that focuses on finding the best for each student,” said Mr. Hurley. “I am extremely invested in finding out what makes each student successful in the classroom, outside of the classroom and finding a spot for them in the building to grow. I am also excited to work amongst great colleagues and staff.” 

Before coming to Wayland-Cohocton Mr. Hurley worked as a community education teacher in Williamsville, where he also attended school as a student. He was also a technology teacher in the Buffalo Public Schools. Mr. Hurley has worked in physical fitness as a fitness director and master trainer at Buffalo Athletic Club, CoreFitness and SUNY Cortland. 

Mr. Hurley attended Williamsville North as a high school student and completed undergraduate studies at SUNY Brockport. He completed a graduate degree at SUNY Cortland and graduated in 2015 with a Masters in Teaching. Mr. Hurley will graduate this August from Brockport with  an advanced certificate of study in School Leadership. 

During his two years at Wayland-Cohocton, Mr. Hurley taught physical education and health in the high school. He also coaches junior varsity soccer, boys basketball and modified baseball. 

“My primary goal is help create a learning environment that is exciting and engaging for all students and invigorates a school culture that is rich in history and enthusiasm,” added Mr. Hurley.
